Letter from our President regarding resumption of classes

Hi to all our members. Your committee, along with just about everyone else, is slowly emerging from hibernation, carefully popping our heads above the parapet and checking the lay of the land.  We are all hoping the worst of the COVID crisis is behind us.

But, given that Hoppers Crossing Sports Club and Heathglen venues are not available in the immediate future, and other venues are still working out their opening protocols, your committee has decided to put off any possible resumption of classes in general until fourth term beginning 5 October 2020.

However some specific groups may be able to resume earlier.  SMILE has already resumed meeting at Wyndham Park where there are no problems with social distancing.  Mosaics is a possibility and those small groups that meet in the tutor’s home may also be a goer. Each individual tutor in conjunction with Lia, the Course Coordinator will decide if the group should meet.

HOWEVER, we are all in the very vulnerable demographic, therefore each and every member has to decide whether the benefit of attending outweighs the risks.  And of course all the hygiene protocols MUST be observed religiously.  Remember, the virus is still here; it has not gone away and it will probably be around forevermore.  The trick is how we learn to cope with it.

But look upon the bright side: the sun still comes up every day and, more importantly, the great toilet paper shortage is over.
